Camera + Wi-Fi = Eye-Fi

Eye-fi-logo-rgbLearn how to make your camera wireless“, a simple line which sent me googling more about the technology that turns your shooter into a wireless device. Meet the the Eye-fi, an SD card and a Wi-fi cards that allows any camera that supports SD cards to render it’s cords unnecessary. Yes, the USB cord and even the card readers don’t have to tag along when you’re traveling which means less hassle. Eye-fi lets you automatically backup all the photos you snap and even videos directly to a computer and even to your favorite image or video hosting site!

You can free all those pics and video clip from your camera and immediately share them with your friends via Facebook, Flicker and Youtube, even without turning on your PC. All you need is a wireless router. This is one of the best features for travelers specially when the 4GB memory capacity of your SD card is almost full and you still have a lot of shots to make. All you have to do is find a hotspot and your files are immediately saved on the cloud so you can start clearing the slate out to make room for more!

Too lazy to upload, organize and share the pictures you just took on that camera, well, no need to worry cause Eye-Fi does the uploading for you. Click on the link above to learn more about Eye-Fi.

Amazon Kindle Will It Be a Hit In the Philippines?

amazon-kindle-2Amazon Kindle, specifically the Kindle 2, the gadget that promises us to revolutionize the way we look at books and print media in general is already available here in the Philippines!

Yep, it’s free 3G service is already working unlike the old version of Kindle that only works through Sprint’s backbone in the US. I’m not certain if they are using Smart or Globe’s wireless 3G infrastructure but one thing’s for certain–Amazon Kindles’s 3G service works in the Philippines!

I’m not sure with the market’s pulse but I’m excited over the Kindle. It’s like the iPod for geeks! Who would not like a device that gives you free access to Wikipedia and lets you read your books while you are on the go? It even reads the book to you now that it comes with text-to-speech capability!

I believe only a fraction of the Pinoy population will rave about the Kindle or any ebook reader that would be made available in the Philippines. Reading is not really something that a lot of people enjoy. We prefer TV and have information handed to us through video. Hmmm. Perhaps I’m just pessimistic.

Oh well, I just hope that if ever something good would ever come from this E-book Reader mania that we all have today, it would be to increase the rate of people who loves books and learning from them. That way, we could be smarter and perhaps be more empowered!
