Maasin City, Southern Leyte– It’s been 80 years since the Most Reverend Sofronio Hacbang, Archbishop of Samar founded Instuto de San Jose, now known as Saint Joseph College, my Alma Mater.Since then, SJC flourished as the center of education in Southern Leyte and nearby Leyte towns.

I was once reprimanded by my college instructor, who happens to be a Catholic priest, cause I kept addressing him as “sir” while everybody else in the class calls him “father”. He was so furious and accused me of disrespecting his “status” that he threatened to fail me in his class.
