Rants On Hayden Kho Katrina Halili Scandal, Bong Revillia, Ako Mismo and the 2010 Elections

If theres anything good about the Hayden Kho Katrina Halili scandal, its reminding Pinoys that there such a senator called Ramon Bong Revilla. I thought he was just some has-been action star with a show in the Kapuso Network, honestly (winks).

Bong Revilla, like Pinoy bloggers grabbed a piece of the Hayden Kho Katrina Halili scandal by lambasting Hyden Kho in front of the Philippine Senate. Classy? I think its a cheap shot. Hes doing his job alright but why hasnt he done anything worth noting since he was put to office? His bills, if there are any is not even a hot topic of debate which means that its anything but a landmark.

Bong Revillas hay-days in public service was when he heads the Optical Media Board (OMB) (now headed by Edu Manzano who may also follow Bongs lead in the upcoming elections now that his Ako Mismo Movement is gaining attention). This is why I dont understand why there are people who would nominate executives to legislative positions. Those who are good in implementing rules should stay where they are and do the job. Leave the legislative to the thinkers, the scholarly and the old people who gained wisdom through the ages.

I once wanted Bayani Fernando to run as senator so he can replicate what he did in Marikina in other parts of the country as well but I then realized that he would be no good as legislator considering that majority of our laws are not even implemented.

If theres any other reason why I am pro-Gloria besides just cause I am, then it would be that in her term of office, she managed to appoint the right people for the job (including the shady job of course which is usual in any administration). Her tourism secretary, Ace Durano is a performer and managed to create a good tourism plan for the Philippines. Its just a shame to know that Ace is also running for Senate comes 2010 perhaps because his office is co-terminous and theres no assurance that he could still do what he is currently doing if he does not become senator. But that reason is still lame. Take Robert Gordon for example. When he became senator, he is more popular in doing things for the Red Cross than in tourism.

I also wonder why people still fall for run-of-the-mill movements that usually fades out after the elections. Jason Calva is good with this. I mean, hes a genius. This is no satire, ok. Kuya J, as he is fondly called managed to mobilize the youth of Southern Leyte during the 2004 election by creating the Provincial Youth Movement of Southern Leyte using the funds of Plan International and other political and even non political personalities in the province. That was really brilliant! He delivered youth support, as promised, for the Lerias-Mercado alliance proving his worth to the party.

A lot of movements are now cropping up like (is it hotcake or mushroom?), the Ako Mismo movement. When I first noticed the buzz about it, I thought it was a campaign for masturbation until saw Maxine Magalona on TV and realised she of all people would not tie her name to such cause. I tell you what, give it a 6 months after elections and the Ako Mismo movement is history.

Anyway, since some of you reach this page hoping to take a peak at Katrina Halili eating Hayden Khos banana, heres the ectended version of the Hayden Kho Katrina Halili Scandal.
