To hobbyists as well as playwrights short of funds to hire actors to portray their works and pay for the props and location, to create animations is a cheaper if not better alternative.
To create animations in the past, you would need to have technical know-how on vector graphics or 3D graphics manipulation, a lot of time creating characters from scratch and of course, a highly powerful computer. Right now, you can just create animations with ease and simplicity and using only a regular desktop computer. You have to spend some time perfecting your scenes though but it’s definitely shorter than doing it manually.
Moviestorm is one of the available free software that you can download from the net to create animations easily. It already comes with various theme packs, scenes and even pre-animated characters that you can customize to fit the kind of story you want to portray. All you need to do afterwards is to dub the voices and add in the music.
Should you wish to add more costumes, characters and even scenes for your movie, you would have to shed out some dough for it but they also offer Moviestorm subscriptions so you can get discounts on your purchases. You can also download mods and animations created by community.
To be honest I was not really convinced that to create animations using Moviestorm is gonna be at par with animations created using high-end professional softwares but I seen some animations created by users to include a series called Ghost with exciting storyline and a blievable set of animation. Well it might not really be something close to a Pixar film but if you have a very good story, your viewers would love your work more. The animations you created are just medium for experession anyway.
You can also check out the Moviestorm widgets from thier website as well as know more about their animation software.
