Jammie, Galiza and, got a chance to meet at Ayala last Monday to swap books. The three of us were former classmates back in high school before some silly old spinster who though anal sex is taboo, banished me to what our school, Saint Joseph College, call “the lower sections” (I can’t find the logic as to why they tag it as lower so don’t dare attempt to find one, genius.) I brought my first Baldacci, Absolute Power, (it’s a bargain buy) and RJ Ledesma’s Lies My Yaya Should Have Told Me; Jammie brought The Little Prince; and Glaiza brought her Mitch Albom, Tuesdays with Morrie.

Glaiza’s book, covered with a red semi-transparent plastic film which reminded me of my first condom, ended up with Jammie (I had a copy of that book before Ganda stick it up in one of her orifices ). I ended up with with the translated French classic from Jammie (recently devirginized, I might add). My RJ Ledesma, a compilation of news paper columns of some softdrink endorser in the early eighties who’s trying hard to sound like Jessica Zafra (just like someone I know…). It’s more of a trash than a book. I think I was drunk when I brought that book to the counter as i would never shell out 5 dollars for a piece of literary crap. I could have just read a Dean Koonts, who’s literary prowess is equal to that of a pothead. (Now someone would loathe RJ Ledesma with me.)

The three of us share a passion for books back when we were still officially residing in Maasin City. Meeting them to exchange books after more than five years reassured me that I made the right decision of moving here in Cebu to build a career and to enjoy the company of people who speak the same language as I do, Geek.

We met at National Book Store, a bibliophile’s version of Hooters. Could you just imagine how we lose ourselves?

Jammie bought a Mukirami, despite my insistent protest, and a Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Memoirs of My Melancholy Whores. We promised each other to swap our latest finds after we’re done with what we’re currently reading. I wonder who’s gonna enjoy my Ian McEwan’s Atonement.

Millions of Sex and the City fans searching for the book, Love Letters of Great Men, Carrie Bradshaw read to Mr. Big in the movie came was surprised to learn that the book didn’t even exist.

The book could have been a best seller had someone published it before the movie’s release. The closest title to the book is Love Letters From Great Men and Women: From the Eighteenth Centure to the Present Day. It was published in 1920 and only recently re-issued piggy backing on the fame of an existent piece of literature.

This is just shows how influential Carrie Bradshaw is.

Its a nice book, IMO, and it managed to made me feel more courageous amids an impending 360 degree life turn.

I think I’m more like Haw cause I used to be afraid of changing and looking for new cheese until I found myself more and more miserable each day of blaming others for the lost cheese and managed to laugh at how foolish I was to hold on to it.

I’m getting closer to my new cheese now and this time, I’ll be wiser than I was before. I’m gonna keep my running shoes hanging on my neck just in case I have to use it again and keep finding new cheese even though my current cheese station still suffices my needs. heheh

How about you? How did the story affect you?

Perception is everything, so they say. This is how big bloggers make themselves big. was successful on this as well as other folks who are not necessarily bloggers. This is why I turned off WP-Postviews 2 days ago. I was not proud of what I’m seeing that my posts just gets about 500 views max and sometimes its lower than a hundred. Stats like these don’t give your visitors a good impression.

Robert Kiyosaki, in his book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, admitted that he is not a good writer and his book’s success was anchored on the perception that he is an authority when it comes to money making. More of his efforts was spent on marketing himself than marketing his book. When he succeeded on that, the floodgate of opportunities opened for him and now his affiliate marketing strategy is a hit on the internet.

I am still yet to ponder on how I’m going to market myself. I’m not yet an expert on SEO or money making, I don’t even know how to sell a site about San Diego exotic dancing, and I think that market is too saturated alreadyy. I can’t even market myself as a gaming guru cause I already promised myself to stop playing. I can’t be a fitness jock cause I’m fat and I can’t be a political analyst cause my parents did not allow my to take up Political Science.

Oh well, this one is a personal blog, thankfully, so methinks I should just be an expert about myself ( I don’t really know what this means) and try to make me seem interesting even though I’m really not. I won’t follow any advise to just “be myself”, though, cause that’s definitely the worst advise of all.

P.S.

I turned WP-Postviews on again. Seeing at least a single person reading it other than myself is better than not knowing at all.

Peace out!
