When I started this blog I was still running on Wordpress 2.2 then 2 days after upgraded to 2.3 for security reasons. I’ve tried other platforms before that like Blogger, Nucleus, Joomla (it’s a CMS but can be used for blogging too) and Typepad (via Friendster blogs) but I got stuck with this one simply because it’s the best. It’s free, easy to customize, lots of plugins and templates to choose from.
As Wordpress users may know by now, the release of Wordpress 2.5 which was originally set for March 10 has been delayed and will be pushed through on the 21st.
The new version is more showcases a streamlined admin pannel and a new pop-up interface for embedding media files such as pictures, videos and sounds. It’s less cluttered and pleasing to eye just like a Mac.

In case you don’t want to try it out in advance, just like I did, you can loging to Chris Johnston’s demo site using admin as the username and demo as the password then come back here and tell me what you think.

New version of wordpress – ‘way long overdue! I think, though, I’ll wait for the first patch or two before upgrading – things seem to run smoother that way.
Enjoy,
Barbara

I guess I should follow your lead and not jump in immediately. But I must admit the new look and feel of the admin panel made me drool.

I just know a month, or less after the 2.5 release, WP will again pass along another “patch” for security reasons. I didn’t upgrade to the last security release because I knew a new version was coming-but I’m waiting at least a week to see what actually happens. Incompatibility with plugins is my main concern, not to mention I don’t have time this week to pray to the WordPress Gods that an upgrade doesn’t screw things up

I think that WP is taking the right step with 2.5 but as usual with major upgrade, you will have to wait for the security patch in a couple of weeks before it is truly safe to use on a live site.

I love your site. I found your blog via Google while searching for sport banners and your post regarding ress 2.5 Update looks very interesting to me. It really looks very nice. The articles provided are long enough to provide great content but not so long as to be totally engrossing, if you know what I mean.

What about tag pages? I’m finding that alot of my traffic is coming from tag pages. I didn’t see any settings for true/false with regard to tag pages. Thx.
