Angel Locsin is raving about Encyclopedia Dramatica’s entry on Philippines. Encyclopedia Dramatica’s a humor wiki. It’s like Wikipedia but the contents are all catered to the needs of the twisted like me who can’t laugh with just a regular dose of knock-knock jokes and poorly written scripts of Angel Locsin TV shows and movies.
While the poor Angel Locsin keeps on waving her Pinoy pride flag to 36 thousand of her followers some of her much more sober minions are admonishing her to take a quick pause to think about her desperate move to be on the news again as attacking a lampoon site that picks on everyone and not just Filipinos would clearly show how naive the actress really is. Meanwhile, the number of idiots who comprise a majority of her legions of fans are in all-out support of her which obviously made the actress more persistent on her call against the site.
To be honest, I was a fan until I read her twitter post. A big one at that. I used to think she is the epitome of beauty and brains and now it’s all shattered. I wonder what that lover-boy CNN hero would think when he sees her idiotic posts. Perhaps he would cheer for her like all her gullible fans do. It would have been okey if she was fighting against something written by a foreign s3x tourist or a Pinay scandal website but a lampoon site full of parodies on all races, all lifestyles and religions? That’s a totally different story! Hell, she would need more than her minions to do that.
After letting my disappointment settle, about 18 hours since the peak of the twitter fight, I must admit that I have been rude and I apologize to the people who got involved especially to Angel. (Ok mom you can now let go of my ears. It’s turning red mom!) But, I would never apologize for calling her to stop the her marching orders as it would really just make her another laughing stock. Perhaps it’s the side of me that continues to idolize her that aims to protect her from ridicule. Silly but I changed channels when she did. That’s how big a fan I was.
Manolo Quezon was once on the hot seat for saying that Pinoys don’t really understand what sarcasm is based on how we react to Hollywood and other articles that pick on our race which is an indication that he was right after all. I just hope that Ms. Locsin would chose her battles next time and I hope some of his fans would have the courage to do what it takes to bring her back to the light if ever she goes astray again.
To all her fans who have been attacking me on twitter, Thank you. You guys just stooped to my level without knowing it. Nyahhaha.

I will tell you a story.. I have a friend who works in KSA, he was an engineer. He said that his employer was arrogant, bossy and completely thinks that filipinos are losers, and deserves a low paying job. So one day his boss came to him, shouting and told him about filipinos, that they are idiots, the only reason they hire them was because it’s cheaper, and he said go get me some coffee!! You know what my friend did? He shouted back, he said I’m sorry sir but you’re wrong about filipinos and making coffee for you is not in my job description. His boss was dumbfounded.
Moral of the story? If you let others belittle you, ridicule you and say “he’s right somehow” then you won’t go anywhere.
My point? So how come a filipina actress, 25 years old at that, younger than the blogger, who never worked abroad, knows and understand about this things? Than the blogger here who thinks he knows everything?
Well, If Angel and the blogger are in the story above, I guess Angel will be promoted so fast like my friend did, and the blogger be forever the doggy who follows his boss around and forever be a clerk, cause his boss is always right.

Hey dude, drop it, you may have a point but the thing is, whatever she said did not really concern you. Her intention was not to harm you or anyone. It’s a cause she thought she needs to to be concerned (angel is a concerned filipino). She maybe naive, but thats the beauty of it, that tells us about her personality, theres not a bad bone in her, sarcasm is not her thing, shes a gentle soul. You may have been slighted by the way other fans (not her) called you, that’s maybe one of the reasons you took time to make a blog and make an issue about this. So it pains a person he/she’s called unjustly. What did you think she felt when you told her straight and direct your low opinion of her. You were not her enemy, but you reacted in behalf of the site, not even a human, but a site over a fellow filipino.

Bendz is just being Bendz so I think we can leave his comments alone (rude or not rude)… As Filipinos, it’s a fact that we really don’t have a good grasp of sarcasm as humor so it’s prolly innate for an Angel Locsin to react the way she did. For some people, she might have sounded stupid. That doesn’t mean we need to crucify these people! They just have a broad mind that could accept jokes even if it’s about their own people, or even their moms.
There isn’t an excuse for Bendz on his rudeness.. YES. As the great Ellen Degeneres said: “It’s ok to criticize but not in a rude (Simon Cowell) way!” But guys.. c’mon! The guy already conceded on that mistake and even apologized for it. That should count for something…
To all of Angel’s legions of fans… I AM ONE OF YOU! I can really tell that she’s a beauty inside out. She has this aura of pure kindness so I totally understand where she came from when she stumbled into the site in question.
She just acted on what she felt was wrong. People might have felt otherwise. But still! She has all the rights to react. To some, it might have been stupid but that’s just the way it is. They also have all the rights to react on how she reacted given that Angel is a public figure.

1.) The Philippine Entry on ED wasn’t as intense as it was before Angel Locsin and her fans attempted to rid of the lulz- it’s pretty much fueled the fire to add more of it.
2.) Asar-pikon eh. It’s a pretty big irony that we’d like to insult/make jokes about races/genders/countries. But when we’re the ones insulted – we all go batshit crazy and call it injustice/prejudice/racism and totally get butt-hurt. -

I’m a little of a slow poke here… My fellow Filipinos i have to agree with bendzgerona here. I think a lot of us over reacted on sarcasms and jokes that came from a stupid site like Encyclopedia dramatica. I also like sarcastic jokes and from what I experience my Filipino friends or even my girlfriend don’t laugh on such jokes.They even regard it as an insult. So I conclude that we few Filipinos that appreciate this form of humor should avoid sharing them to most Filipinos. Sarcasm always have a deeper point or meaning and it was often used before to attack the ignorance, evil or wrong doings in a society. Jose Rizal used it to describe the vices of Filipinos that was inherited from the Spaniards. Sarcasm should be for those who have deeper minds and much more open perspective on reality.
i’m with you on this one. there’s too many ignorant, hypocritical, self-righteous filipinos out there. no wonder the country doesn’t progress!
