Immediately after my shift which ended at around 11 in the morning, I took a cab to SM just to get a fix after a couple of weeks abstaining from movies. With no sleep yet and coupled with too much stress from taking granny calls on how to troubleshoot internet connection problems I was hoping all the trouble would be worth it once I get to the theater with a popcorn in one hand and a giant sized soda cup on the other.
Like a bubble pinched with a needle, my enthusiasm and my fantasy of relaxation faded when I learned that SM Cebu cinemas was only showing an almost-month-old The Mummy and, as if the universe is conspiring to make my day hell, the Richard and KC chick-flick, For The First Time. Of course I did not go for the Pinoy serving of cheese. I’d rather go for stale bread so I went for the former.
Anyway, the Mummy was a good movie considering considering the alternative. However, it’s not at par with the it’s prequels when it comes to the storyline which falls below zero when it comes to believability. They should have made the hunky addition to the cast the couple’s niece rather than their child. Who would also think that China would be home to a witch who likes to fool around with generals and do all those tricks with the sword. Add to it the funny comedic effects when the “witch” summoned the undead.
Well, I guess I should have gone for cheese than a total crap. Gotta go guys, gonna have my share of cheese before my shift starts.

Im just wondering when will Filipino movie producers make real good movies. We already have the talents to create special effects at par with Hollywood.
Naunahan na tayo ng ibang bansang Asyano when it comes to producing quality films. Now they’re wondering why the Philippine Movie Industry is already almost 6ft below the ground…
