Pinoy Alternative Transports

With the price of gas constantly rising, Filipinos who got used to the comfort of their cars and taxi cabs are starting to look for other means of transport that are lesser in cost. here, we examine the alternative means of transportation that’s getting more and more popular among Pinoys in the midst of economic crisis

Manila LRTTrains - Manila’s MRT and LRT are gaining back it’s popularity amongst commuters and they are now even planning to increase their scheduled trips to accomodate students and the working population.

FerryFerry Boats - Ferry boats plying the Pasig River and the Cebu channel are now forced to add another vessel to cater to the needs of the growing number of passengers. Ferry services not only cuts the traveling time almost in half but cuts transportation costs as well.

Jeepney - Although most of it’s patrons are shifting to trains and ferry boats, more and more former taxi enthusiasts are starting to consider this “King of the Road” as their friend. Even with the another impending fare increase, this king will still remain the king.

Habal-habal - Habal-habal is the local term for public utility motorbikes. Although it’s still considered illegal by the Land Transportation Regulatory Board, habal-habal operations are thriving not only in far flung barangays of the country but on the city streets of manila and Cebu as well. it’s not really safe though that’s why there is a need to wear protective helmets like Harley Davidson helmets for men. it may be expensive but it’s durability has been tested not just by biker boys but by scientist who made it sure that your head is protected from impact.
