I didn’t know anything about a clan reunion until I found myself on the middle of it.
I was sitting in front of my PC waiting for it to boot until I realized there is something terribly wrong with the processor. I may be a self-proclaimed tech whiz but when it comes to defective hardware, the only troubleshooting process I know is to get it replaced. Since I didn’t have the luxury of doing so (read as: I’m broke), I took it as a sign to get my ass off my room and take a much needed vacation.
I went to Buac Gamay, Sogod, Southern Leyte, a place my parents now call their official home. It’s a three hour bus ride away from Maasin City. It’s a small town where people make it a habit to ogle at strangers like they’re some Hollywood actor or actress. It’s far worse than the Amish like community I live in. No kidding!
I never thought everybody was in the middle of preparing for a clan reunion which, according to the streamer that welcomed me, would officially happen the NEXT day. I remember my mom telling me about it weeks ago but I just thought she just made that up just like she makes up all those other stuff that’s supposed to make me consider going to Sogod. I really hate the place. It brings old memories of my grandmother forcing me to eat dried fish and hearing that dreaded “wak-wak” sound.
Being the solitary type of person that I am (or loser, for short), I try to minimize contact with my relatives to avoid getting asked what I ate to grow this huge, why I didn’t finish my degree(s), how old I am, why I don’t have a girlfriend, and what I do for a living. The latter is very hard to explain specially for non-techies. (I was just a professional blogger at that time cause I just started being a call center agent yesterday). It seemed like I’m the odd man out.
Thankfully, uncle Abel put me in charge of documentation and handed me his laptop. I thought I was going to die of tech abstinence! I was also designated the official clan secretary later on. I insist on calling myself a clan chronicler cause it sounds cooler. I wish the clan president, lolo Guin, would allow that.
More on The Reunion on my next posts. Time to make some money hehehe.
