I’m Gonna Market Myself (Whatever that Means)

Perception is everything, so they say. This is how big bloggers make themselves big. was successful on this as well as other folks who are not necessarily bloggers. This is why I turned off WP-Postviews 2 days ago. I was not proud of what I’m seeing that my posts just gets about 500 views max and sometimes its lower than a hundred. Stats like these don’t give your visitors a good impression.

Robert Kiyosaki, in his book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, admitted that he is not a good writer and his book’s success was anchored on the perception that he is an authority when it comes to money making. More of his efforts was spent on marketing himself than marketing his book. When he succeeded on that, the floodgate of opportunities opened for him and now his affiliate marketing strategy is a hit on the internet.

I am still yet to ponder on how I’m going to market myself. I’m not yet an expert on SEO or money making, I don’t even know how to sell a site about San Diego exotic dancing, and I think that market is too saturated alreadyy. I can’t even market myself as a gaming guru cause I already promised myself to stop playing. I can’t be a fitness jock cause I’m fat and I can’t be a political analyst cause my parents did not allow my to take up Political Science. :-(

Oh well, this one is a personal blog, thankfully, so methinks I should just be an expert about myself ( I don’t really know what this means) and try to make me seem interesting even though I’m really not. I won’t follow any advise to just “be myself”, though, cause that’s definitely the worst advise of all.

P.S.

I turned WP-Postviews on again. Seeing at least a single person reading it other than myself is better than not knowing at all.

Peace out!

    It’s easy to become an authority on just about any subject online - the Internet is replete with resources that will give you an edge over 99% of the worlds’ population. I’ve written books on Internet recruiting, real estate marketing, SEO, building websites, teaching children how to read, raising parakeets, selling on eBay, marketing model horses, etc…and in each case, readers have wondered how I gained so much knowledge so quickly.

    It’s called Research. :)

    Data points,

    Blog about yourself and make it relatable to everyone. Cause you’re an asset, not a liability as Rich Dad would say.

    on the other hand, we might not have to be bothered by all those stats. numbers are just number but the important thing is that we impart some of the learnings we have that might be helpful to other people who might stumble on our blogs

    I went through the same thing with post views but I ended up leaving it there when one of my posts got seriously hammered by stumbleupon and is teetering at 100,000 views! I’d keep it there if I was you!

    Everything has to start somewhere Bendz. Just like you, being new to this blogging thing (just over two months), looking at the stats at times are inspiring, but if you see others’ stats, it suck. But as Robert Kiyosaki and other Gurus say, “there’s no shortcut to success”. Its good that we are conscious on our progress and how we strive to hone our skills. That’s why, I didn’t installed Postviews, and even took out Feedburner Feeds Stats, even Alexa. Someday, we can display those (when I get over 300 feed readers, and when I hit below 100K Alexa Rank). I know we can get there in due time, in the meantime, let’s have fun doing the thing we love - blogging. :-)

    for sometime now i havent really checked my stats, even removed my feedburner stats coz awhile back I was so bothered by stats that the first thing I do daily would be to check my stats. Now that I resolved not to dwell on it, I’m starting to think of good posts..:)

    Keep blogging and ei, ive checked out your latest project.. its looking good hmm keep it up! Buzz me when you’re done with it ha, i could help spread the word around.. Ciao..

    @SELaplana

    Geez! If the no. 1 blogger on Ratified.org don’t consider himself an authority, then I really have to ask Meriam-Webster to revamp his meaning of the word authority! Hehehe.

    @bloggista
    hahaha. I bet you’re enjoying your new ad server now

    @pinaywife
    hehehehe. I don’t really think a certain project, specially if it has something to do with the internet, would reach a point of finality hehehe. There will always be something new around the bend that you would eventually want to get a hand on and add to your piece of work. heheh It would always be a work in progress.
