In Norse mythology, Ragnarok or Ragnarök is the final battle waged between the Æsir, led by Odin, and the various forces of the giants or Jötnar, including Loki, followed by the destruction of the world and its subsequent rebirth. Not only will most of the gods, giants and monsters involved perish in this apocalyptic conflagration, but almost everything in the universe will be torn asunder and destroyed.

While I was still and English Major, right before I shifted to Accountancy, reading mythologies gives me the joy of a fish on water and I was branded a geek because of that. I was even held in contempt for calling Zeus bi. Yes folks, the mighty man is. He even did it with a cow.

I’ll not toil around that topic more. Sorry if you got fooled by the title, it’s just a way of catching some attention, so they say. This post is about my passion for online gaming before I ventured to a more profitable vice–blogging. Bloggista talked about his obsession with Perfect World, Deimos has a plethora of games in his blog and so does Rowmel, and I’m gonna share something about Ragnarok Online.

I played Philippine Ragnarok Online (PRO) about, a hundred years ago, methinks. It seems to be that long now. I was still using dial-up then and I was a Mage. It’s the first massive multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) I played and I guess it’s also one of the pioneer online games in the Philippines.

I sucked big time with Ragna.I haven’t even got the chance to change job to wizard and kick some butts through PVP. I was a noob or newbie, to be politically correct. I was even scammed so I quit.

I didn’t have fond memories of the game, except that it’s like a male version of paper dolls, but looking back to that chapter of my life reminds me of the time when I can be happy even without a dime in pocket and the sheer joy of being with my buddies. I’ve been away from them since I got my first job 5 years ago and I miss them and the things we did back then.

I didn’t know how nostalgia really feels like until I write this part of this post. I was just planning on posting some Ragnarok graphics you can use as forum signatures. I think I should get a widget now that says “EMO”.
