Pango! Nyahahahah

“Tayo’y mga Pinoy. Tayo’y hindi Kano. Wag kang mahihiya, kung ang ilong mo ay…PANGO”

~Francis Magalona

A true blue Pinoy definitely know where I took those lines. It’s one of those songs that will keep replaying on your head and reminding you that you have “long” nose it’s just expands sideways. hehe. Did I get that right? I don’t know what’s the direct translation for the word “pango”. “Big nose” would not even suffice to describe it.

For the sake of my foreign friends, those lines comes from a pop song that tells about how we Filipinos have that overly stretched noses. Most of us, including myself, hate having “flat” noses and so the song goes to tell us not to compare to our American (Kano) counterparts simply because it’s how we’re created and that we should be proud of it. It’s an old song, probably as old as myself. I’m 22 by the way.

For that decades it has been played, you might presume the message sinked already in but reality proves otherwise. Many, mostly those in the entertainment industry, chooses to go through the knife to enhance mother nature’s absurd sense of beauty.

My sister, who shares the flat-nose genes wants to have her nose done cause it seems to be the only one lacking, physically , that is. She showed me photos of revisional nose surgery before and after, the other day. I didn’t know she wants a nose job this much.

It seems that media is winning this one again. I for one desires to have mine fixed but my fear of needles and cuts would probably prevail over my vanity. I bet my sister and I are not alone. Perhaps you too have the desire to get that nose fixed.

P.S. If I loose a reader for posting my picture, I’m gonna put all the blame on Manilenya for talking me into it.

I don’t think the original of that is Francis Magalona - it was Heber Bartolome who first sang/compose this song. If my memory serves me right.
