Goodbye Entrecard Droplist

As I write this, my FTP software is deleting entrecard.bendzg.com, my list of fast loading websites with entrecard widgets. It’s been doing good, I tell you. A pretty decent additional traffic adding to my boost in Alexa Ranking and a sort of service to my fellow users. I read lots of SEO blogs recently and found out that the “rel=nofollow” tag on links, when you have more than 300 of it, would bring your PageRank down. I didn’t think I would come to this point of craving to have a little green bar on my Google toolbar when I started blogging. Seeing blogs that generate less traffic than I do having a PagerRank made me quite envious. It’s a good thing they changed the . heheh I’m also tired of updating it. It’s not easy to maintain a list of 300 fast loading sites with widgets on top fold. Some bloggers change their themes as fast as Imelda changes her shoes. The recent Blogger.com pruning of hosted blogs has also affected the list and I have to find another 100 websites who will qualify. School’s off for the summer from my part of the globe. I’m planning to take a vacation and enroll in a speech class. I want to enhance my proficiency more. That sort of extra effort could ruin my R&R. :-P To all those who have been frequenting the now defunct page, I just like to thank you guys for the support. I’ll still continue to post tips and tricks for Entrecard but only those that would approve. heheh.

  1. I read lots of SEO blogs recently and found out that the “rel=nofollow” tag on links, when you have more than 300 of it, would bring your PageRank down.

Where did you read about this?

    How true is this?

Why would this bring down one’s Page Rank when those links are already plastered with the nofollow tag? -_-

  2. That stirred the limited techie brains in me. Why? LOL. But honestly, I don’t really understand how Google awards your with this PR thing. Take for example this completely insane site (my site - http://on-myweb.com) . It has nothing on it. But yet, Google gave it a PR3 rank. Haha. To think that I put this site online 2nd week of December. My other blog at wordpress (blogrebel.wordpress.com) was given PR4 last January 1, or barely 2 months since it went online. And go back to this rel=”no follow” thingy, its scary if your ‘finding’s is true. Almost all wordpress hosted blogs put rel=”no follow” on comments. So, if you more than 300 comments with links on it, would this also bring your site’s PR down?

  3. @bloggista:
True, those Wordpress powered blogs with articles that received more than 300 comments would have hell lot of no follow links!

You are telling me the page rank of those sites would be penalized?

  4. So if your site is penalized how would you bring it up again? And about rel=”no follow” thingy could you explain more? Thanks!

  5. I was checking my history to find the link to that site. there were 2 of them really but since I empty my private data to input another Entrecard account, I could not find it anymore.

It was a purely speculative and bordering on paranoia, like those who don’t joint entrecard for fear of being google slapped, comment and yah, I should not have given it more water than a mere speculation but somehow I believe it’s better to go with their idea.

My link here are mostly nofollow except for those blog I give credit in my post.

  6. I beg to disagree. The nofollow attribute in fact will help you keep your juices instead of sharing it to others. You also need to understand that Google evaluates “Pages” and not the whole site. This means to say that Google treats http://www.bloggingmix.com and http://www.bloggingmix.com/advertise/ as 2 different pages.

I’d appreciate if you provided a link to where you got your information. I’d be interested to know your source.

    Cheers,
    Rocky
