Spottt Sucks

Spottt has been a hot topic in EntreCard forums today thanks to the Android Guys’ thread that would also qualify as a blog post
I signed up for spot 2 days ago for my 2 blogs and as of yesterday, it gave me 14 visitors for this blog and 13 for the other one. considering this site is just 2 weeks old, 14 is better than no traffic at all.
Spottt, often misspelled as spot and spott, is run by Adbrite, the same company that runs Black Label Ads for porn ads. The project was announced September last year, 2 months before the launch of Graham’s Entrecard last November.
Entrecard operates on a credit per drop system which you can use to purchase ad spots on other Entrecard participating sites. You also get credits once others drops there card on your widget. For Spottt, the manual widget clicking is out of the picture.
According to Spottt’s FAQ, “For every two times an ad is shown on your site, we’ll show your ad once”. No more visiting on other blogs to gain credits, no more waiting for widgets to load, no more link lists. Sounds fair enough. Even better if your site has wide readership. Thats is why those “Crunch” ads appears more than others.
For control freaks, who wants to know where their ad boxes are showing up, or if their ads are running at all, Spottt lacks that feature. It just shows you a Stats-O-Rama page with the number of impressions and clicks you gave and got.
Another matter of concern is Section 2-b of Spott’s Terms of Service which says: “AdBrite reserves the right to place paid banners on AdBrite”s affiliated sites, its own sites or Participant sites. Knowing AdBrite, it won’t take long before they put more paid banners than regular link exchange banners.
As I was assessing mine, I can’t help but wonder why I still have 8,128 Credits. Perhaps they are not running more paid banners than my piece of the pie.
It doesn’t have a forum, which EntreCard has, that makes you feel like you are part of a big family of bloggers. You’ll gonna miss Phirate and Graham’s replies, The Turnip’s sarcastic remarks, Deimo’s Purple Face, Cecilia’s hairdo and the Fantasy League Baseball’s bat.
Is Spottt really the Next EntreCard?
is unique. You can even use your credits to buy a year of domain hosting, buy yourself a new Wordpress theme, or be fooled by those pretending to donate their proceeds to foundations.
Spottt is more like Blogrush. And no doubt will it rush for its doom too.
I’ll stick with Spottt for a while and enjoy the 13 visits it gave me. This site still needs some extra special lovin’ before my target audience in Southern Leyte knows it exists.

Great summary, I feel exactly the same. It’s already driving more traffic (supposedly, I’m not find as many clicks in my referal logs as they show) than Blogrush, so that’s good - but the lack of transparency is really troubling. I hate not knowing where my ads are being placed, nor having any control over what ads show on my site.
Entrecard has a community that will never be obtained by Spottt because of the system in place. A community is what inspires. A community transforms. You’re only as rich or as poor as your community. You have nothing without it. Spott has nothing.
Now point your finger, Bendz.
I couldn’t agree more with you two. ^_^

Mate, regarding the “love comment” that you got, I would recommend you to install the plugin which shows which country the commentator is from.
Let them bring pride to their country!
I can’t install the plugin for some reasons.
I still have lots and lots of exams that preoccupies me this time.
I’m difinitely gonna follow your suggestion about the country of origin plugin!
thanks for stopping by D!
