When someone says he’s going to Boracay, I cant help but get envious. The thought of white sand beaches with those twin coconut trees, those skinny-dipping tourists and the awesome nightlife , really made me long for the day that I would actually set foot on Philippines’ paradise island. That was until 29, 2006 when I was granted to go there to attend the National Movement of Young Legislators National Congress.
I was more than excited as I thought I would be, but then, things started to suck!
The gods gave me an early sign that the whole experience is going to stink when I learned that there were no dry docking stations so I have to get my blue jeans wet when I disembark from the ferry. I had an option though, it was either I let a porter carry me (an almost three hundred pound guy) and not get wet, or, let my feet dip on knee-deep waters. I would have taken the first option if there was a healthier looking porter but all of them looked like they were on their 50’s so I was forced to choose the wet way.The second blow hit me when I learned that a pot-pot ride costs sixty pesos so I have to walk several kilometers (yes, kilometers!) just to get from point A to point B.Someone told me the souvenirs were cheap so I tried to look for bargain buys. The cheapest borloloy I saw costs 10 pesos and it really looks cheap! The pricier ones cost more than the peddlers during our fiesta sell. Even a small bottle of water costs double! If you want to have the cheaper ones, you have to walk a kilometer, and that’s a fact! The beaches were nice. And just nice. If I am not living just walking distance away from the beach, I would have appreciated it more. Let’s give credit to the fine white sand though.
I have spotted some famous personalities but none of them made my experience worth the while. I swear I would never be back on that island if I won’t be rich and hunky. It seems that they were the only people having fun there.

well for one you got it all wrong about boracay. The 60 peso rides are worth it when you actually fill up the pot-pot and not just be one person. Walking in the Boracay walkway to the mall area where most of the stores are, are only a few minutes away depending on your hotel’s location. The Boracay experience all depends on your hotel you probably weren’t staying in one of the hotels near The Boracay Regency. And as for the dry port part it also depends on your hotel if they have their own ferry which has a designated port area where you can’t get wet. And you would’ve probably had more fun if you were with people that could let you have fun. Cause honestly I’ve been to Boracay twice and have stayed in the Regency twice. Almost everything in Boracay can be walked it just depends on how willing you are to walk it. In addition to that since it was your first time there unlike you everyone else riding the ferry going to boracay was already aware of a possibility of getting wet which is why they wore shorts going there not blue jeans. The hotel usually has shuttles that pick you up when you arrive in the island. Nothing is so cheap anymore anywhere. Were you expecting 5 peso souvineers? well even the souvineers being sold in Greenhills aren’t 10 pesos.
You just lacked information about Boracay before you took your trip because had you been informed you would have been prepared for all the things you are mentioning.
and you have wrong grammar because you don’t walk a kilometers. you either walk kilometers or walk a kilometer.
I’m from the province so those borloloy come cheap here and yah, I was designated at a hotel in station one and the venue was the Regency hotel so it took me time to walk.
I’m big.. scratch that. I’m fat ^_^ so I can fill the pot-pot up.
Yah, I should have researched first before going but since I was too darn excited to go plus the fact that my boss gave me the go signal the same day i’m supposed to travel… kaya nagkaganun. heheh
I heard a wiseman once say that. A week later I saw that same wiseman being rounded up for having too many complaints from his wild adventures.
Anyway, just got back from bora last month and found out they no longer allow tourists to dock on the beach like you did. Everybody now has to go through the tiny port they made which makes things pretty comfortable.
I’m also fat (I meant poofy) and could fill up one of them pot-pots.
Wahahaha. Actually, now that you mentioned it, I’m planning to go back and see the view again. I just did a booking with Discovery Suites heheheh. (In my dreams)
